Pitchfork reports that the new Strokes album will feature Nick Valensi  on Mellotron, speculating that Valensi is trying to be the band’s Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead’s Mellotron-happy guitarist).  This in turn leads us to wonder: Is Greenwood an MOT?  Consider the facts: He spells his name with no “h,” Jewish-style, because he’s a Jonathan and not a John.  One of the songs he wrote for the film Bodysong is called “Nudnik Headache,” and another is “Tehelle,” Hebrew for pale blue.   And according to Justradiohead.com, Greenwood ‘s wife is Israeli.  A quick search revealed nothing conclusive about Jonny (or his brother Colin), but the Yiddish Invasion will continue to investigate this compelling mystery.
