Handsome Dick Manitoba, lead singer of the proto-punk band the Dictators, made this chopped liver for a seder at the home of rock writer Lisa Robinson. Be sure to slice the onions fine for a truly creamy dish.

Ingredients: 1.5 lb chicken liver .5 lb beef liver 1 mid-sized onion 2 or 3 hard-boiled eggs green and black olives 1 large yellow bell pepper lots of schmaltz spoonful of mayonnaise (optional) salt & pepper to taste

Using a meat grinder, grind the chicken and beef liver. Mix them together in a vat with some schmaltz or a drop of olive oil until texture is uniform. Chop onion very fine and fry in schmaltz until the pieces are soft and translucent. Chop hard boiled eggs into equally small bits. Mix fried onions and eggs in with liver. If so inclined, add a dollop of mayo, then salt and pepper to taste. Mash the entire contents of the vat into a smooth paste.

To serve: Slice the yellow bell pepper into strips. Garnish the chopped liver with alternating green and black olives around the rim and a Star of David made out of yellow pepper strips in the center.
