Rumors of Marianne Faithfull's ill health have been greatly exaggerated.

[The New York Post](http://www.nypost.com/?ref=jewsrock.org) and several other sources reported last week that the weathered legend was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and suffered a heart attack. Supposedly, these woes forced her to relinquish a role in an onscreen adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and cancel her current European tour to promote new album [Before the Poison](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006Z3DDA/qid=1122122873/sr=8-1/ref=pd%5Fbbs%5Fsbs%5F1/002-0018624-5439205?v=glance&s=music&n=507846&ref=jewsrock.org). The faux health scare even prompted her to quit smoking. First heroin, now cigarettes--what was a diva to do?

Fight back. She set the record straight with the [World Entertaniment News Network](http://www.wenn.com/?ref=jewsrock.org). "These horrible rumors are completely untrue," she sniffed as only the British can. "It's upsetting that so many of my friends and family have been forced to worry unnecessarily about my health."

Was she saying this while living, strung out, on a wall in Soho during much of the 1970s? No matter. Faithfull plans to continue her tour, smoldering cigarette firmly in place.
