Though they've championed the work of classic rock icons like Elvis Costello, Ray Charles, and Joni Mitchell, Starbucks has retreated from a deal to sell [Devils and Dust](http://www.brucespringsteen.net/devilsanddust.html?ref=jewsrock.org), Bruce Springsteen's newest release. [Page Six](http://www.pagesix.com/?ref=jewsrock.org) reports today that the ubiquitous chain refuses to stock the CD due to "a song graphically detailing an encounter with a hooker."

Starbucks had planned to offer the album until executives heard "Reno," whose lyrics include a vivid--though poetic--description of anal sex. They also objected to the mention of the hooker's fee ($250, for those of you who are curious). Which raises an interesting philosophical question: What is more vulgar--$250 for a prostitute, or $4 for a cup of coffee?
