# Madonna: Still controversial after all these years

This is definitely a new one in Madonna's multi-decade reign as diva: coming between the Israeli foreign minister and the country’s ambassador in DC.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom wants to replace Israel’s ambassador, Danny Ayalon, following Ayalon’s complaint that Shalom’s wife insisted that he fire his assistant. This is where Madonna comes in: the assistant’s offense was a blatant failure to set up a meeting between Shalom’s wife and the Material Mom during her recent visit to Israel. Judy Shalom Nir Mozes has also been accused of other obnoxious behavior, including calling embassy workers "retarded." For his part, Shalom says simply that he’s lost faith in the ambassador.
